Prevention

In recognizing that violence isn’t born out of a vacuum, GRASPP understands that the culture of youth violence is a systemic problem with many layers.
Just as a child is born out of a family (whether fragmented or whole), a family is a small part of a neighborhood, which is a larger part of a community, which is an even greater part of our society.
These various components of our community are all inter-related and are influenced by each other.  This means that violence in the home, in our neighborhoods, in our schools and communities, affects not just the individual perpetrators and victims, and not just the location of where it occurs.  Youth violence, wherever it occurs, affects us all.
The GRASPP approach to youth violence recognizes that a multi-level problem requires a multi-level response.
As a result, GRASPP tailors education and prevention programs to students, parents and caregivers, educators, community service organizations, faith-based groups, businesses, as well as medical and mental health professionals.
